Natutal equestrain Horsemanship
Meeting Suzanne has transformed my relationship with horses. I’ve been around and ridden horses for most of my life, but now, working with Suzanne I have a surprising newfound confidence and competency with them. I am learning skills in horsemanship, on the ground and on the horse back, I am learning how to really communicate with horses. Wonderful.
Suzanne’s approach is based on understanding and practicing effective communication between horse and human, and with incredible results. So, without bit or spurs or fancy equipment, we are training my young horse in the art of dressage. As a teacher myself, I can say that Suzanne is a very very good teacher. I come away from every lesson excited by what I have learnt about my horse, myself, and the relationship between horse- and- human; and always wanting to learn more.
Under Suzanne’s guidance, I am becoming a horse-person, changing who I am in my relationships with horses. I love her attention to detail, her insistence on being particular and patient, and that she puts the safety and well-being of horses and humans before all else. She is the best human horse teacher that I have ever had.
Suzanne Bellette saved my horse Teddy from going to the knackery! What else could I do with an unsound horse that would bite me at every opportunity?
With Suzanne’s guidance, patience, encouragement and natural horsemanship experience I was able to develop strategies that enabled and empowered me to gain the confidence required to work through these issues with Teddy. He is still a work in progress but the changes in him & me have been monumental.
I will be forever grateful to Suzanne for showing me this facet of horsemanship in such a calm & relaxed manner.
Through Suzanne's guidance I have overcome being petrified of my horse (Gypsy) on the ground, to having communication with Gypsy I thought was never possible.
If I had not found Natural Equestrian and Suzanne, my horses would still be in the paddock and me breaking into a sweat of the thought of having to put a halter on them. I have overcome overcome trailer loading, which is a breeze now, I point to the float and Gypsy goes straight in on her own. Playing with your horse at liberty is the most amazing experience I have felt, your horse is with you but there's no string attached, she can leave at any moment but when the day comes your horse tells you I want to stay with you and play let me tell you, you are in tears. Plus the journey has so much more for Gypsy and I to discover with each other and Suzanne to help us when we get a bit stuck.
Thank you Suzanne you have been an inspiration to me, your guidance and support have been amazing, you have always been there in the darkest hour and when we have made the big break through that comes with Natural Horsemanship.
With all our thanks,
I have been a rider for about 40 years. I have had a series of disappointments with horses as a couple of times I have come to a stage with a young horse where I have been challenged beyond my capabilities and not had suitable instruction about how to overcome what has in essence been a relationship imbalance with the horses. I now understand that there has been a leadership challenge and while my instructors could achieve with my horses I could not!! Not much enjoyment when this is the case.
In 2003 I was introduced to Natural Horsemanship by a pupil of Suzanne Bellette’s. This lady showed me the communication that she had built between herself and her horse. I wanted to learn more and contacted Suzanne to find out how.
I had purchased a young horse and had the kids pony club mount in the paddock. Suzanne very sensibly suggested first learning communication skills and leadership with the old horse before moving onto the youngster. This has paid off. The old horse loved the interaction and has become a much more reliable mount.
I have overcome a number of hurdles with my young horse. She loves the challenges that Suzanne provides for us during our Challenge days once a month at Arcadia. The relationship and communication I have with my horse is better than any I have had with any horse before. This has been achieved through regular instruction and support from Suzanne for me to work with my horse. Suzanne helps me to set goals and has a very positive, structured and encouraging style of teaching.
Suzanne uses demonstration of what she teaches and does not take over your horse to achieve improvement. As the student you make the changes and develop your skills and imagination while working with your horse.
I love horses however had often found that instruction was taken in a direction by instructors that was not really what I wanted. I have found that Suzanne’s patience and acceptance of where I am with my horse and assistance with goal setting that is realistic for my lifestyle and other commitments increases my enjoyment of my horse human relationships. I highly recommend Natural Horsemanship taught by Suzanne Bellette.
